Project Summary

CURE International works in some of the poorest countries in the world. The infrastructure is dilapidated and road travel is difficult and dangerous in some areas to due to armed conflict and banditry. Even in safer areas of the countries, the cost of travel is often beyond the means of most. In addition to providing care and treatment at the hospitals, many of CURE International's staff also operate mobile medical clinics in the remote areas surrounding the hospitals. These clinics provide basic health care treatment, identify children with disabilities who can be helped by CURE, provide community education, and follow-up care to those who have received care.

Mutale at a CURE clinic

Mutale's Story

While visiting a neighboring village, Linda Mulenga encountered a CURE mobile clinic offering free care. Immediately, she rushed home for her niece, Mutale, who had spent five years suffering with a cleft lip and palate. Mutale was booked right away for surgery at Beit CURE Zambia where she received a new smile. "The family is very grateful to all the members of staff who have contributed to this transformation…In God's own timing, Mutale has found a cure!"

Project Facts

War, conflict, violence, poor travel infrastructure and poverty make it nearly impossible for some children in need of care to travel to the CURE hospitals. Those living in remote and refugee camps have little access to health care. The only way that many people might be able to receive help is through CURE's mobile clinics.

CURE International strives to make care available to all children in need, regardless of their ability to pay, religion or ethnic background. CURE goes to extraordinary lengths to make its services as accessible and available as possible. Mobile clinics are an effective and efficient way to deliver care and provide medical and spiritual outreach into remote regions. CURE's mobile clinics are bringing healing and Christian compassion to suffering people throughout the developing world.
